When I first started my accounting practice, I took on just about anyone who needed a tax return. But year after year, I watched people repeat the same mistakes and miss simple opportunities—and it felt like the work didn’t matter.
That changed when I started emphasizing planning. One of my first clients was a private practice therapist, and in our first year working together, we found over $10,000 in tax savings. The following year, it was closer to $15,000. Watching him use that money to knock down his student loan balance instead of sending it to the IRS was truly rewarding. Now I’m on a mission to make that type of result easier for more therapists to achieve.
I realized then that many great therapists are naturally focused on people, not numbers—and they shouldn’t have to figure out the financial side of their business alone. Now I’m on a mission to make similar financial transformations easier for more therapists to achieve.

Over the years, I’ve shifted from being just a teacher of tax rules to more of a coach—helping business owners make decisions they feel good about, even when things are uncertain.
When I’m not working, I love taking slow walks downtown or at the beach with my wife and kids. I’ve recently picked up the bass guitar again—this time as an aspiring musician, not just a punk kid in a garage band—and I’m taking bites out of my goal of reviewing every taco in Ventura on my YouTube channel.
